Starring : Alex Etel, Ben Chaplin, Emily Watson, Brian Cox
Director : Jay Russell
Running Time : 112 mins
In war time Britain, Angus MacMorrow (Etel) finds a strange egg which hatches and reveals a mysterious mythical beast known as a Water Horse, akin to The Loch Ness Monster. Angus forms a friendship with the beast and watches as it grows into a giant sea monster, but disaster strikes when the army turn up and want to test their latest weapons on the Water Horses new home in the Loch.
Although this started off slow, it did have some good moments of both humour and drama. Etel, who was brilliantly kooky in Millions, isn’t quite as good here but, thanks to an interesting and intelligent plot that doesn’t talk down to kids, this made for an entertaining watch.
