Reign Of Fire (2002) 6/10

Set in the near future, a group of fire breathing dragons has taken over the Earth, and only a small camp of humans are left to resist them. Quinn Abercromby (Bale), who as a boy witnessed one of the beasts kill his mother, has a particular interest in taking the dragons down, and hopes to do so with the help of a rag tag band of American’s, lead by Denton Van Zan (McConaughey).

This movie wasn’t too bad, with a very British feeling storyline rather than the usual kind of all American’s together against the enemy plot that so often graces our screens. Bale was reasonable as the sullen Abercromby, and McConaughey was suitably over the top as the brash American who turns up to help kill the dragons, but all in all there wasn’t really enough substance to make this a movie worthy of raving about.
