When his only friend dies, a dwarf named Finbar McBride (Dinklage) moves to New Jersey to live a life of solitude in his inherited train depot, but his plans don’t work out as he hoped when he is continually pestered by a hot-dog vendor named Joe Oramas (Canavale) who wants to be his friend, and the accident prone divorcee Olivia Harris. However, Finbar soon realises how precious friends can be, and slowly starts to open up to Joe and Olivia.
This is a difficult movie to judge. The plot is a little too simple, and the story moves at a strange speed which is slow whilst also being a little too quick. The ending seemed very rushed and came as a surprise to me as I didn’t feel everything had been resolved, and some of the personality changes were rather random. Regardless this is something of a feel good movie which seems to be pleased with the job it had done, but really it needed something more to be truly great.
