Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium (2007) 4/10

A toy shop keeper named Edward Magorium (Hoffman) discovers that he is going to die, so he begins to put his business in order so he can pass it on to his long time assistant Molly Maloney (Portman), but once the store discovers that Mr Magorium is leaving it starts to throw a tantrum.

I was very disappointed with this movie. Despite people insisting that this was the first perfect kids film in many years, I felt that it lacked a certain quality that other movies, which pander to older audiences as well, all possess. There was little or no story to speak of, other than Magorium’s imminent death and Maloney’s failure to fulfil her life long ambitions. If anything this teaches kids to give up on their dreams and try to find another one instead.
