My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2001) 7/10

Toula Portakolos (Vardalos) is 30 years old and still lives in her parents house. Having finally got away from the family business by taking over her aunts travel business, she starts to date Ian Miller (Corbett) in secret. When she finally admits to her family that she has a boyfriend, they immediately disapprove because Ian isn’t Greek.

This was actually a pretty entertaining movie, with all the habits of Toula’s family being easily recognised in most families around the world. Vardalos’s transformation came pretty early on, and didn’t really look too difficult a change, but other than this little bit of an annoyance I still enjoyed the rest of the immensely.
