Starring : Kevin Bacon, Lori Singer, John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest, Chris Penn, Sarah Jessica Parker
Director : Herbert Ross
Running Time : 103 mins
Teenager Ren McCormack (Bacon) moves with his family to a small town where music and dancing have been made illegal by the local Reverend (Lithgow) who enforces the law. Ren instantly finds himself falling for a girl called Ariel Moore (Singer), whose father just so happens to by the disapproving reverend, and he completely disapproves of Ren and his rock and roll loving lifestyle.
This is an interesting movie, with one of those plots that could only have worked in the 80s. Lithgow is great as the bitter reverend, and Bacon does a good turn as the bad influence of the piece. Filled with lots of energy and great music which is still popular today, this movie has aged well and is still as relevant today as it was in 1984.
