Starring : Jack Black, Mos Def, Danny Glover, Mia Farrow, Melonie Diaz
Director : Michel Gondry
Running Time : 102 mins
When Jerry (Black) becomes magnetized in an accident, it causes him to erase all the tapes in the video store where he works, but his friend and colleague Mike (Def) comes up with the cunning plan of re-filming all the movies requested by their customers. Soon their so-called sweded version of classic movies become more popular than the originals, and they find their services in great demand.
I really thought this movie was good. Rather than make it ridiculously silly – although some parts were – this is a genuinely touching comedy which mixes good humour and inventiveness with moving melodrama and moments of tearfullness. Black is his usual comedic self, but Def proves that he is more than capable of playing a lead role and manages it with a certain skill which is missing in most singers turned actors.
