The Fast And The Furious : Tokyo Drift (2006) 7/10

Starring : Lucas Black, Bow Wow, Sung Kang, Brian Tee, Leonardo Nam, Nathalie Kelley
Director : Justin Lin
Running Time : 105 mins

As a final attempt to avoid going to prison, repeat offender Sean Boswell (Black) moves to Tokyo to live with his father. There he gets involved with an underground gang who enjoy drift racing, and Sean finds himself increasingly becoming a fan, and also finds himself get drawn in to the world of the Yakuza, an organisation which DK, the Drift King (Brian Tee), has connections to.

I hate to say it, but I thought this was far better than 2 Fast 2 Furious, and at least on a par with the original. The plot made a little more sense than the prior two movies, and the characters seemed more real to boot. Add in the fact that Paul Walker wasn’t in it, and you have yourself a sequel that just about outstrips the original.
