Starring : Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Jack Black
Director : Nancy Myers
Running Time : 136 mins
Two women with troubled love lives, one an English columnist named Iris Simpkins (Winslett), the other and American movie-trailer editor called Amanda Woods (Diaz) decide to take some time away from their hectic lives and do a house swap for a long deserved holiday, but soon they find themselves involved in new relationships, each as complicated as their last.
I’d heard some bad reviews of this apparently formulaic romantic comedy, but I actually found myself enjoying it. The characters were rich and well thought through and, in spite of a pretty long run time, this movie flowed very quickly. Granted more attention could have been afforded to the relationship between Winslet and Black, but overall this was a very enjoyable movie.
