Starring : Anthony Hopkins, Anton Yelchin, Hope Davis, Mika Boorem, David Morse
Director : Scott Hicks
Running Time : 96 mins
The life of Bobby Garfield (Yelchin) forever changes when his mother Liz (Davis) takes on a new boarder in their home, a man named Ted Brautigan (Hopkins) who appears to have special powers which he manages, in part, to pass on to Bobby. But Ted’s life is in danger from the "low men" who seek him out and want to punish him for his power.
This is a very light movie, which doesn’t go as far as the book to explain Ted’s powers, how they work, or indeed where they came from. The performances are good, and the direction is suitable for the movie, but there really needed to be something more to this to make it a truly inspirational movie.
