St Trinian's (2007) 7/10

Starring : Rupert Everett, Colin Firth, Talulah Riley, Gemma Arterton, Russell Brand
Director : Oliver Parker & Barnaby Thompson
Running Time : 97 mins

When the unruly students of St Trinians Girls School discover that the school is facing bankruptcy which would mean they would all be transferred to normal schools where the freedom of expression would be suppressed, they set about coming up with a plan to steal a priceless Vermeer portrait, Girl With A Pearl Earring, during the final of televison’s School Challenge, which they then intend to sell to the brother of head mistress Miss Fritton (Everett).

Although not as good as the originals, and in spite of stealing a number of routines from other movies such as Mean Girls and Starter For 10, this was better than I suspected it would be. Granted, most of the humour involved various degrees of falling over and being humiliated, but that worked reasonably well, and thankfully Russell Brand wasn’t it in too much because he was a little annoying in this.
