Classic Friday : The Lost Boys (1987) 7/10

The Emerson family move to a new town only to discover that it’s over run with teenaged vampires. As youngest son Sam (Haim) gets involved with the Frog brothers, who claim to be vampire hunters, the eldest son Michael (Patric) finds himself being lured into a motorcycle gang who spend most of their days sleeping and most of their nights partying.

This is an all time 80s classic, but pretty much for all the wrong reasons. It’s hard to put your finger on what exactly is so appealing about this vampire version of Peter Pan, but whatever it is it certainly has inspired a generation with it’s tongue in cheek horror and it’s kitschy rock star like appearance. This is definitely one for the DVD collection, if you don’t already own it.
