A retired Reverend (Gibson) and his family find mysterious crop circles in the fields of their farm, then start hearing about other similar incidents around the world. As the news of crop circles grows, they start to hear information which indicates that an alien invasion may be happening even as they speak.

In spite of having an unoriginal story line, this movie is handled in quite a witty manner. There’s plenty of humour, mainly from Joaquin Phoenix’s character, and the story flows along nicely with little extraneous rubbish getting in the way. Unfortunately the ending was so unrealistic that it almost spoiled the whole thing. Thankfully, it didn't!
