Starring : Brendan Fraser, Bridget Fonda, John Turturro, Chris Kattan, Giancarlo Esposito, Rose McGowan, David Foley, Megan Mullally, Whoopi Goldberg
Director : Henry Selick
Running Time : 89 mins
Cartoonist Stu Miley (Fraser) is involved in a car accident and finds himself in Limbo where he meets his most famous creation, Monkey Bone (Turturro). Together they plot with Hypnos (Esposito), the god of sleep, to steal an exit card from Death (Goldberg) so that Stu can awaken from his coma, but Stu is double crossed by Monkey Bone who steals the card and takes over Stu’s body in the real world.
This is actually a pretty good family movie, and Chris Kattan is probably at his best here with an acrobatic performance that is out of this world. Fraser plays both Stu and Monkey Bone in Stu’s body with expert ease, and there are lots of great little jokes to look out for throughout the movie. Plus the make-up effects are pretty amazing.
