Starring : Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, Edward James Olmos, M Emmet Walsh, Daryl Hannah, William Sanderson, Brion James
Director : Ridley Scott
Running Time : 112 mins

In the year 2019, bounty hunter Rick Deckard (Ford) is given the assignment to round up four rogue replicants, one of the most advanced creatures designed to date, but he finds himself questioning his choice of retiring the supposed criminals when he meets and falls for a young woman named Rachel (Young), who turns out to be a replicant as well.

Having not seen this futuristic film noir for many years, I revisited it recently and found myself slightly disappointed. There’s a great sense of Ridley Scott about this, mainly due to the lighting and the set models, and granted it’s been very influential over the years, but there’s a certain soullessness which resonates throughout the movie. Perhaps the point was to show just how bleak the future could potentially be, but if so this has been wasted on me and I much preferred the novel.
