Starring : Joaquin Phoenix, Ed Harris, Scott Glenn, Anna Paquin, Elizabeth McGovern, Gabriel Mann
Director : Gregor Jordan
Running Time : 94 mins
Army Specialist Ray Elwood (Phoenix) finds his life turned into a living hell when Sergeant Lee (Glenn) is introduced to his army base with the express duty of cleaning the place up. Elwood’s plans to sell on some stolen weapons to a Russian conglomerate seem to be at an end, and his hopes to make money from brewing drugs for his fellow soldiers may be under threat when his base of operations is compromised.
Set against the fall of the Berlin Wall, this movie is incredibly funny whilst not going too over the top with slapstick, which it could quite easily have slipped into. Scott Glenn’s Sergeant Lee is possibly the best movie villain of all time, and some of the scenarios are both so silly and yet worryingly scary that you can’t help but sit glued to the screen.
