Assault On Precinct 13 (2005) 7/10

Starring : Ethan Hawke, Laurence Fishburne, John Leguizamo, Maria Bello, Jeffrey "Ja Rule" Atkins, Drea de Matteo, Brian Dennehy
Director : Jean-Francois Richet
Running Time : 104 mins

On New Year's Eve, also the eve of it's closing, Precinct 13 and it's skeleton crew of cops finds itself under attack when a bunch of crooked cops try to take criminal Marion Bishop (Fishburne) from his cell before he can testify against them. The resulting onslaught of gun fire and mayhem forces the cops of Precinct 13 to form a temproary alliace with the criminals they have under lock and key.

In no way is this as controversial as the original John Carpenter version, but this still has something going for it. I was surprised by some of the characters getting killed off half way through, and Fishburne plays the calm criminal perfectly, but Hawke really seems to be ill at ease and doesn't seem to be sure of how to play his characters.
