Final Fantasy : The Spirits Within (2001) 7/10

Earth has been over run by alien phantoms, driving most of the human race off planet and Dr Aki Ross (Na), along with a group of soldiers, attempt to regain control of the Earth and rid it of it's alien infestation without harming the supposed spirit of the planet in the process.

In spite of being based on a computer game, something that usually leads to the kiss of death at the Box Office, this was actually an entertaining sci-fi adventure. There's some very nice animation and an attempt to have a plotline - though it felt at times like a watered down version of Aliens - and the actors do their best to keep the proceeds lively and energetic, even at points where nothing is really happening.
