Classic Friday : Big Business (1929) 8/10

Starring : Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy, James Finlayson
Director : James W Horne
Running Time : 18 mins

Door-to-door Christmas tree salesmen Stan (Laurel) and Ollie (Hardy) are finding it difficult to sell any of their goods, what with it be blazingly sunny in California but, when one of their potential clients (Finlayson) chops up one of their trees, the duo see red and decide to wreck the man's house in revenge. That's when their customer gets the same idea about wrecking their car...

This is one of the most over the top and silly Laurel and Hardy movies ever. The very idea that, just because someone chopped up a Christmas tree, you'd set about destroying their house is so far out there it's beyond a joke. The action is beautifully executed as usual by the comedy pair, and I'm sure most people will agree that this is probably one of their best silent movies ever.
