30 Days Of Night (2007) 7/10

A gang of ruthless vampires come up with the genius notion of attacking a small Alaskan town just as it enters into a month of darkness. As the town folk realise what’s in store for them, they turn to town Sheriff Eben Oleson (Hartnett) to try to save them from the seemingly inevitable fate that awaits them.

This isn’t the best horror film around, but it certainly has a nicely original plotline. Based on the comic book of the same name, this movie takes the idea of vampirism and moves it to the last place you’d want to face the blood sucking monsters. This is very claustrophobic throughout the movie, and delivers some unexpected moments as the film progresses to it’s surprising conclusion.
