Starring : Jake T Austin, Rob Reiner, Whoopi Goldberg, William H Macy, Brian Dennehy
Director : Colin Brady & Christopher Reeve
Running Time : 88 mins
A young boy named Yankee (Austin) thinks he’s responsible for the theft of a baseball bat belonging to Babe Ruth (Dennehy) so, with the help of a talking baseball called Screwie (Reiner), who travels across the country in search of the thief, in the hope of clearing his father’s name, who was blamed for the theft in the first place.
This animated feature marked the final movie for Christopher Reeve, who co-directed it before his death. As an epitaph, this isn’t that bad a movie, in spite of having little advertising or promotion in the UK. There’s enough action to keep the kids amused, and the story itself is well thought through and fun to follow
