Cleveland Heep (Giamatti) works as a handyman at an apartment complex where he meets a woman named Story (Howard) who claims she is a water nymph and that she is being chased by strange wolflike creatures whose intentions are to prevent her from returning to her own world. With the help of Heep and the other tenants in the complex, she must fight against the creatures and return to her own world by solving a series of codes and riddles.
The characters in this movie are probably what save this from being incredibly boring and ultimately pointless. Thankfully, the acting skills of Paul Giamatti are put to their best use as he takes the ensemble cast of talent and turns this from a mediocre fairytale into something special. Although I wasn’t a fan of the hasty ending.
