Slither (2006) 7/10

Starring : Nathan Fillion, Don Thompson, Elizabeth Banks, Gregg Henry, Xantha Radley, Michael Rooker, Tania Saulnier
Director : James Gunn
Running Time : 92 mins

When a meteor lands in the woods near the small town of Wheelsy, local resident Grant Grant (Rooker) finds himself playing host to an alien parasite who then sets about laying its eggs in another unfortunate host. With the parasite roaming around town, taking over people’s bodies, it isn’t long before the local police department find themselves faced with one hell of a challenge.

It’s hard to really describe this movie as a comedy-horror, as there isn’t any outright comedy involved. There are some silly moments, but there’s just not enough to boost this from being anything more than tongue in cheek. In any case, there were enough enjoyable moments to make this movie more than watchable, but if you’re expecting anything in the vein of Shaun Of The Dead you will probably be very disappointed.
