Son Of Rambow (2007) 8/10

Will Proudfoot (Milner) is a well behaved, highly religious young boy who is banned from watching television, but makes a bond with fellow school boy Lee Carter (Poulter), a trouble maker who regularly disrupts his classes, when he sees First Blood for the first time. Soon Will becomes involved in Lee’s plans to win a young film makers competition, and they pull out all the stops to make their spin-off from First Blood, Son Of Rambo.

This movie was just so entertaining, and it made me smile from beginning to end. The choice of child actors for the roles couldn’t have been better, and the story line which mixed between firm reality and outright fantasy made for a thoroughly enjoyable spectacle. I especially liked the choice by the boys of Eric Sykes to play John Rambo in their version of the film. Inspired.
