Sylvia (2003) 5/10

Starring : Gwyneth Paltrow, Daniel Craig, Blythe Danner, Michael Gambon
Director : Christine Jeffs
Running Time : 114 mins

Sylvia Plath (Paltrow) is a poet with highly suicidal tendencies. When she meetsand marries fellow poet Ted Hughes (Craig), she thinks her life is going to turn itself around, until she starts to suspect Ted of having an affair with one of his students, a suspicion that makes her start to think about suicide again.

This movie only goes to show what a truly desperate character Sylvia Plath was. Granted her poetry was very popualr after her death, but her instinct to kill herself whenever things go badly is the main focal point of this entire movie, which despite some nice performance from Paltrow and Craig, makes for very unsettling viewing on the whole.
