Starring : Freddie Highmore, Sarah Bolger, Nick Nolte, Mary-Louise Parker, Joan Plowright, David Strathairn
Director : Mark Waters
Running Time : 96 mins
When the Grace family move into their inherited home, the children of the family discover a secret world of fairies and goblins which had originally been discovered by their uncle Arthur Spiderwick (Strathairn), but as they become more involved in this strange world, an evil creature named Mulgarath (Nolte) notices them and tries to steal their uncle’s magical book which will give him control over the world.
I thought this was the perfect fun filled family movie. Granted, some of the creature effects might have been a little too scary for young kids, but the action and adventure was perfect for an afternoon viewing by the whole family. It was a bit annoying that Freddie Highmore was putting on that odd American accent for the whole film, but thankfully not so annoying as to distract you from the movie itself.
