Hellboy II : The Golden Army (2008) 8/10

Hellboy (Perlman) and his team of secret government freaks find themselves once again fighting for the safety of humanity, this time against a race of spiritual beings who wish to take over the Earth by gaining control over a mythical crown which in turn controls an unstoppable golden army of robots.

This was just as good as the first movie, but in a different way. The characters are more established, and even Abe Sapian gets a bit of character and plotline to himself. Perlman shows once again that he is the perfect choice to play Hellboy, with Selma Blair actually feeling like she’d grown into the role of Liz since the first movie. Here’s hoping for a third instalment, and that we don’t have to wait another four years.
