Are We There Yet? (2005) 7/10

Starring : Ice Cube, Nia Long, Aleisha Allen, Philip Daniel Bolden, Jay Mohr, Tracy Morgan
Director : Brian Levant
Running Time : 92 mins

Nick Person (Cube) despises children, but when he meets attractive divorced mother-of-two Suzanne Kingston (Long) he decides to put on a show for her in the hope of getting a date with her, but when Suzanne asks Nick to get her kids to Vancouver, where she is stuck working for New Year, Nick is left travelling cross country with two of the brattiest children imaginable.

I’ve heard some really negative reviews of this movie, so I went in to it with my eyes wide open, but actually enjoyed it for the most part. Granted the children needed slapping almost from the get go, but in some ways they do get their comeuppance which was rewarding for the viewer. It’s Cube for whom I felt sorry for the whole movie, having to put up with those kids. Let’s hope that as the credits role he took his belt off to them!
