Starring : John Cusack, Jack Black, Todd Louiso, Iben Hjejle, Joan Cuasack
Director : Stephen Frears
Running Time : 111 mins
Following his latest breakup, record-store owner Rob Gordon (Cusack) decides to compile a top five list of his greatest breakups so that he can try to discover if there was a running theme that accounts for all of his relationships falling apart. Along the way he is given less and less meaningful advice from his employees Dick (Louiso) and Barry (Black).
This is one of those movies that, in spite of completely changing the setting, has been perfectly translated from the novel. Cusack is perfect as Rob, the coaster of life who can’t be bothered to make a decision or take the next step in his life, and Black is, as always, fantastically funny and aptly poignant in his observations on life.
