Shallow Hal (2001) 8/10

Starring : Gwyneth Paltrow, Jack Black, Jason Alexander, Susan Ward, Anthony Robbins
Director : Bobby & Peter Farrelly
Running Time : 108 mins

Hal Larson (Black) was advised by his father on his deathbed that he should only date attractive women, and so has grown up to only go for the perfect woman devoid of imperfections, but when he meets Tony Robbins (himself) in a lift he is hypnotized to only see women’s inner beauty, so when he meets Rosemary Shanahan (Paltrow), who weighs over 300 lbs, he sees her inner beauty and falls madly in love.

I really like this film, it’s probably one of the Farrelly borthers most endearing movies to date. Black is not as manic as usual, which seems to suit him better, and Paltrow looks at her best as Hal’s ultimate Rosemary.
