War Of The Worlds (2005) 6/10

Ray Ferrier (Cruise) is a divorcee who is being visited by his kids Robbie (Chatwin) and Rachel (Fanning)for the weekend while his ex-wife and her new husband visit her parents in Boston. Unfortunately this is the same weekend that aliens decide to invade the Earth, and Ray find himself having to fight to protect his children from the invading menace.

Definitely not the best action movie of all time, and far from being Spielberg’s best, this is still a mildly entertaining romp which, if you try not to think about it too much, is actually quite enjoyable to watch. This has the feel of a future Christmas day movie if ever there was one.
