Starring : Queen Latifah, Jimmy Fallon, Henry Simmons, Jennifer Esposito, Gisele Bundchen
Director : Tim Story
Running Time : 94 mins
Belle Williams (Latifah) is New York’s fastest cabbie, with one of the most souped up cars around, but soon finds herself dragged into police business when Andy Washburn (Fallon), a cop without a driving licence, enlists her help as a driver to catch a gang of ruthless bank thieves who have a secret only Belle knows.
I wasn’t expecting this to be entertaining, but I thought it was pretty good. Granted it wasn’t as good as the French original, and it took the comedy of the situation a little over the top, but all in all this made for a fun filled family movie. Fallon’s loser of a cop made an interesting contrast to Latifah’s streetwise cabbie, but neither character was lampooned to the point of caricature which was nice to see for a change.
