Classic Friday : Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) 7/10

Starring : Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Alec Guinness, James Earl Jones
Director : George Lucas
Running Time : 118 mins

Farmboy Luke Skywalker (Hamill) mistakenly receives a message from Princess Leia (Fisher) saying that she has been kidnapped by the evil Lord Vader (voiced by Jones), so he joins forces with a group of revels, lead by the charismatic Han Solo (Ford) and together they travel in search of the Princess, finding themselves under attack from all sides in a galaxy spanning war.

This is one of the most famous and populare sci-fi’s of all time, but to be fair it isn’t really that special. Granted the special effects were inovative for the time, and there are some good ideas and solid characters here, but there isn’t really anything that brilliant about it. Everyone should have seen this movie by now, not because it’s brilliant but because it’s iconic, so if you haven’t, then get out there and see it now.
