Brian Jackson (McAvoy) is a teenaged student at Bristol University who discovers that a group of students are planning to go on University Challenge. As a long time fan of the show, Brian decides to join the group, where he meets Alice Harbinson (Eve) and falls instantly in love.

Not a bad adaptation of the novel by David Nicholls, thankfully he also wrote the screenplay, this was nevertheless a little slow in getting going. Some people might find the pace of the movie a little distracting, but there are some genuinely funny moments, not least McAvoy’s appearance on University Challenge.
