Norbit Rice (Murphy) is a quiet, nerdy guy who was brought up in an orphanage where he eventually meets and marries the domineering Rasputia Latimore (Murphy) but, as the years go by, he starts to regret his decision and, when his childhood sweetheart Kate Thomas (Newton) comes back on the scene, he decides that maybe he should think about leaving Rasputia. Unfortunately, Rasputia and her brothers have other ideas, including turning Norbit’s orphanage into a strip joint!

After hearing all the negative reviews of this movie, I was expecting something truly awful. Thankfully, this wasn’t that bad. Although not very original, with Murphy playing a similar role to that in Bowfinger, this was still a highly enjoyable movie with a simple yet effective plotline.
