The Importance Of Being Earnest (2002) 7/10

Starring : Rupert Everett, Colin Firth, Frances O’Connor, Reese Witherspoon, Judy Dench
Director : Oliver Parker
Running Time : 94 mins

Two friends, Algernon Moncrieff (Everett) and Jack Worthing (Firth) both lead double lives so that they can enjoy themselves to the fullest, but their lies soon lead to complications in their romantic lives when they are discovered by the two women that they are courting.

This was actually a very entertaining adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s play, with some very good performances from Firth and Everett. Witherspoon was a little subdues in her role, as was O’Connor who can usually do some pretty good turns, but Dench was excellent as the overbearing and judgemental Lady Bracknell.
