House Of Flying Daggers (2004) 6/10

A police officer named Jin (Kaneshiro) goes undercover to investigate a young blind girl named Mei (Ziyi) who may have links to the mysterious rebel group The House Of Flying Daggers. When his superior Leo (Lau) arrests Mei, Jin breaks her out of her prison and they go on the run together.

This film was really over hyped on its release, with the main selling point being it was a bit like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. The only real connection I could see was that they were both Chinese and both featured Zhang Ziyi. Any other similarities are purely superficial. This is a simple enough story of love and betrayal, with some nice visual effect, but the language barrier may confuse some viewers as to who is who and what is going on.
