Ice Age : The Meltdown (2006) 7/10

Starring : Ray Romano, Denis Leary, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott
Director : Carlos Saldanha
Running Time : 87 mins

Manny (Romano), Diego (Leary) and Sid (Leguizamo) discover that their valley is going to be flooded due to the ice wall that surrounds it beginning to melt. They decide to migrate in order to get away from the danger, and along the way they meet Ellie (Latifah), a mammoth who thinks she’s a possum! After much protest, Manny starts to fall for her, but first they have to contend with prehistoric monsters, volcanic eruptions, and vicious tidal waves of peril!

This was quite a good film, with the Scrat sequences providing most of the entertainment throughout. I actually preferred Sid’s character in this than in the original, maybe it’s because he looked a bit better animated. Another bonus is that this wasn’t as sentimental as the original movie, so you can happily laugh without being brought back down by the sad moments..
