A secret society called the Illuminati is searching for a talisman that can control time, but need a special key to locate it or they have to wait for the planets to come back into alignment, which will be another 5,000 years. Lara Croft (Jolie) comes across the key where her father (Voigt) had hidden it many years ago in their mansion, but the illuminate manage to get their hands on it. Now Lara must find the talisman before the Illuminati can get their hands on it and destroy the world.

Actually a very enjoyable film, and much better than the weak sequel, this truly brought the Tomb Raider computer games to life with the only acceptable choice of Angelina Jolie in the title role.
