Starring : Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jason Behr, William Mapother, Clea DuVall
Director : Takashi Shimizu
Running Time : 91 mins
In this remake of the classic Japanese horror, Karen Davis (Gellar) is an exchange student from the US training in Tokyo. When she covers for a nurse and goes to visit an elderly woman, she doesn’t realise that the house she lives in possesses a powerful curse which destroys the lives of all those who enter it.
A pretty bland remake, although it thankfully didn’t carry on in the footsteps of the American version of The Ring by taking a great, suspenseful movie and pretty much butchering it. This had the same director as the original, so stayed reasonably true to the story without throwing in too many meaningless scary moments.
