On the eve of her wedding day, Sophie (Seyfried) discovers a diary beonging to her mother, Donna (Streep), which indicates that there are three men who may be her father, so Sophie decides to invite all three to the wedding in the hope of getting her mother to tell her which one is her father so she can get them to give her away. Unfortunately even Donna is unsure of her daughter's parentage...
Although this is an effectual musical which has plenty of energy to keep it lively, it does seem to have been overhyped by the public. The simple plot, which borders on French Farce at times, plays well from beginning to end, and the Abba tracks more often than not fit into each scene, but there are a few moments where the songs don't feel like they belong, and they left me with a feeling of being slightly cheated.
