Starring : Helen Hunt, Colin Firth, Bette Midler, Matthew Broderick
Director : Helen Hunt
Running Time : 93 mins
April Epner (Hunt) is almost forty and wants nothing more than to have a child of her own. When her husband Ben (Broderick) leaves her and her adopted mother dies, her need for a child increases tenfold, but when she meets her biological mother, a chat show host by the name of Bernice Graves (Midler), she starts to think of the relative pros and cons of adoption.
This is a nicely written movie which plays off the characters' neuroses with Woody Allen like style. Hunt's debut as a writer and director is strong and makes for a nice introduction to her potential new career direction. Hopefully she can keep her momentum going, that way her next movie will be stronger and more even with just as good a script.
