Classic Friday : Star Trek II The Wrath Of Khan (1982) 8/10

Starring : William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, Walter Koenig, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols, Paul Winfield, Kirstie Alley, Ricardo Montalban
Director : Nicholas Meyer
Running Time : 109 mins

Captain James T Kirk (Shatner) and his crew are performing routine training procedures when Khan (Montalban), a deadly enemy from their past, re-emerges with his genetically engineered followers and performs a raid upon Regula One, stealing a top secret device known only as Project Genesis.

This is one of the best of the Star Trek movies, and is definitely one of the two most popular along with First Contact. The crew have found a new energy that was often missing from the original series and are able to mock themselves whilst still giving a powerful action packed performance. There is something a bit more grown up about this instalment, what with the solid 15 certificate and the brain eating worms that proved so popular with viewers. A great addition to the series, and the one that helped it last so long, at least until number four.
