Starring : Jamie Bell, Sophia Myles, Ciaran Hinds, Jamie Sives, Maurice Roeves, Ewen Bremner, Claire Forlani
Director : David Mackenzie
Running Time : 91 mins
Hallam Foe (Bell) is a voyeuristic teen who becomes convinced that his step-mother Verity (Forlani) was somehow involved in his real mother's suspicious death. After confronting her, he decides to leave his family behind and journey to Edinburgh where he meets and becomes obsessed with Kate (Myles), a young woman who bears a striking resemblance to his dead mother.
This is a very Freudian drama, which makes twists an turns so sharply it's very hard to predict what will happen next. Bell's character is likeable whilst still remaining a dark and disturbing, something that isn't easy for an actor to pull off, and it's sad to see he went on to make a film like Jumper which really didn't stretch his abilities.
