The Stickup (2001) 6/10

Starring : James Spader, Leslie Stefanson, David Keith, John Livingston
Director : Rowdy Herrington
Running Time : 92 mins

John Parker (Spader) is a big city cop who quite his job following his partners death in exchange for moving to a small woodland town. There he falls for a nurse, Natalie Wright (Stefanson), and things seem to be going well for him until he finds himself on the run, accused of robbing a bank.

This had a real seventies feel to it, from the story line to the soundtrack. Spader is quite subdued in his performance, going for a sort of Harrison Ford in The Fugitive feel, but this works well and makes it difficult to determine for most of the film whether or not he is guilty of his apparent crimes. An interesting guess-who style thriller which, on the whole, works well but does drag on a little to begin with.
