Classic Friday: Monty Python And The Holy Grail (1975) 8/10

Starring : Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin
Director : Terry Gilliam & Terry Jones
Running Time : 86 mins

A group of brave knights, led by the intrepid King Arthur (Chapman) journey in search of the Holy Grail after Arthur is sent a message from God, but the journey is not a simple one, and Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table meet many an obstacle in their religious quest.

This is the first proper Monty Python movie - not counting And Now For Something Completely Different which was pretty much made to sell the Python's in the States - and the influence of their TV show is clear. The plot is strong and has direction, but the antics are zany, over the top and completely off the wall. From the Black Knight who never gives up the fight, to the slightly biased witch trials, right up to the flesh eating rabbit, this movie has everything a Python fan can expect from the team. A must see!
