Welcome To The Jungle (2003) 8/10

A bounty hunter named Beck (The Rock), who owes a lot of money to a local mobster, is sent to the Amazon to retrieve the mobster’s son Travis (Scott) who is down there in search of a rare golden idol. Things turn bad when local slave-driver Cornelius Hatcher (Walken) hears about the idol and comes after Travis in the hope of gaining the valuable artefact for himself.

This was a highly entertaining little romp in the vein of the Indiana Jones movies but without the supernatural element. The acting ability of The Rock seems to improve with age, and there’s a nice little nod to him taking over as Hollywood’s new action star through a cameo by Arnold Schwarzenegger, in which he seems to be passing on the torch.
