Starring : Paul Giamatti, Hope Davis, Harvey Pekar
Director : Shari Springer Berman & Robert Pulcini
Running Time : 88 mins
This is the Biopic of Harvey Pekar (Giamatti), an unusual comic book writer who published underground books full of little stories from his life. From his early days as a filing clerk to his high success in the 80s as a comic book writer, we are given an incite into his sad, lonely life through a number of interviews with himself, his wife, and the people who know him best; his friends.
This was an interesting blend of film and documentary, with actors performing scenes in between interviews with Pekar and his associates. Giamatti is excellent in the lead role, and the presence of the actual Harvey Pekar just makes his performance seem even better.
