Using the name of Sweeney Todd, Benjamin Barker (Depp) sets up a barber shop in London in the hope of getting revenge upon Judge Turpin (Rickman), who took his daughter away from him, by getting rid of London’s aristocracy with the help of a pie maker named Mrs Lovett (Bonham Carter). Together they set about killing all the big wigs in town and turning them into pie meat which they in turn sell to the general populous.

This was a pretty enjoyable musical, though Depp isn’t at his best in my opinion. This is possibly Burton’s bloodiest movie in a good while, but the over the top blood and gore only adds to the sense of wickedness that this movie portrays. Couple this with the great choice of colouring for the movie and you’ve got yourself a visual spectacular.
