Chris Gardner (Smith) works as a medical equipment salesman, but comes upon an opportunity to become a stock broker. The opportunity is unpaid, and convinces his wife Linda (Newton) that Chris is a lost cause and she leaves him and their young son (Smith) in the lurch. Only Chris’s solid determination in the face of hopelessness keeps him and son going through the slow months of his apprenticeship.

This was a surprisingly interesting and heart warming movie, with some nice performances by both of the Smiths. This really kept you routing for the main character from start to finish, and Newton’s character, though understandable, was a bit of a bitch to him! Worth checking out if you want to watch something feel-good.
